A meeting between a group of artists engaged in various art activities in Haristuwa Divisional Secretariat under the jurisdiction of Kandy District and Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Minister Mr. Vidura Wickramanayake was held at Harispattuwa Divisional Secretariat's auditorium.

The problems faced by the artists have been recognized and the minister announced the action that can be taken for that.

The New Year gift presentation for the aged Tower artistes who have made a unique contribution to the theater industry by displaying their talent on the Tower stage for many years was held on 11th April 2023 at Savsiripaya Premises located at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 07.

The Tower Hall Theater Foundation offers monthly retirement allowances to the elderly artists with the aim of taking care of the senior designers who have done extensive work for the promotion of theater and performing arts.
On the occasion of the Sinhala and Hindu New Year, the Tower Hall Theater Foundation annually awards New Year's gifts to artists. This time Rs. 10,000/- each were awarded to 50 tower artisans.
For this occasion, Buddhasasana, Honorable Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs, Mr. Vidura Wickramanayake, Additional Secretary (Development) of Heritage Division of the Ministry, Ms. Nishanthi Jayasinghe and Director General of Tower Hall Theater Foundation, Dr. D.M.S. Mr. Dissanayake participated.

The Tower Hall Theater Foundation offers an NVQ course in Acting to those who are interested in acting and who are already working in the acting industry, with the aim of providing the practical professional skills required for stage, television and film acting, in accordance with the regulations of the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission. has been initiated.

No educational qualification is required to take the course, and the entire course is implemented through practical activities.

As the Sri Lankan representative of the International Theater Institute, Tower Hall Theater Foundation has been celebrating “World Theater Day” for many years. This year's World Theater Day celebration was held yesterday (27th) at 9.00 am at Maradana Elphinstone Theatre, which is celebrating a century, in a grand manner, led by dramatists and students of Tower Sinhala and Tamil Drama School.
This year's World Drama Day message was presented in three languages by the students of Tower Sinhala and Tamil Drama School. With the participation of those students, for the first time in Sri Lanka a combination of two nations, on the same stage, at the same time, using the new trends in drama and theatre, produced by Tower Hall Theater Foundation, Rumesh T. The premiere of the stage play "Next Up" written and directed by Chandrasiri was staged on this day.
For this event, which was headed by Sinhala and Tamil school students, Buddhasasana, Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs, Mr.Vidura Wickramanayake, Buddhasasana, Additional Secretary (Development) of the Ministry of Religious and Cultural Affairs Mrs.K.A.D.R. Nishanthi Jayasinghe, Director General of Tower Hall Theater Foundation, Dr. D.M.S.Dissanayake also joined.

To develop the entertainment of the Sri Lankan people and to encourage the creatives and use them again and again to create, the modern tradition of the tower era "Tower Prabhaswara" is a fresh performance that includes the more popular Noorthi, Nadagam, Teeter Javanika and grammerphone songs which became more popular in the Tower Hall era. The concert was held recently (07) at the main hall of Mahaoya Kappetipola Maha Vidyalaya in Rambakanoya Mahaweli region under the leadership of the tribal leader Uruvarige Vannila Aththan.
Taking part in this event, Vedi leader Uruvarige Vannila Aththan stated as follows.
"This program jointly implemented by the Tower Hall Theater Foundation and the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka, targeting the people of Mahaoya, school children, and slum dwellers in Ampara district, which is an extremely difficult area, should be highly commended. I am sure that Mahaoya people and tribal people have never seen such programs before. Also, I would like to thank all those who worked to bring a program limited to Colombo to such a difficult area. The chief officer of the Tower Hall Theater Foundation, who addressed the council earlier, stated that there are only problems everywhere. There are very few programs that can make life enjoyable and calm. By watching this program, the knowledge and understanding of the local residents will not only increase, but also improve their self-control. I am lucky to have seen such a show. Again I pay my respects to the Tower Hall Theater Foundation. I request the leader of the indigenous generation to give the people and children of this area the opportunity to watch more programs like this.

"Lionel Gunathilaka's Introduction to Lankan Dance Music" written by Mrs. Alala Chandi Suddathchari, the contribution of Kalabhushan Lionel Gunathilaka, a gifted musician who has done a great job for the advancement of local theater arts in collaboration with the Tower Hall Theater Foundation for twenty-six years. The unveiling ceremony was held today (17) at Savsiripaya Auditorium.

Veteran lyricist Mr. Sunil Sarath Perera gave a special lecture on the contribution of Lionel Gunathilake to the Sri Lankan dance and music arts, and concurrently, the catalog of Tower Theater produced by the Tower Hall Theater Foundation was launched.

Adding color to the occasion, Saraswati Abhinandana was performed by the students of Sarasvipaya Theater Foundation of Natya Bhushan, dramatist Chudamani Sri Jayatha Karunasekera, and students of Tower School of Drama and Theater also presented a choreography.

At the request of enthusiastic theater audiences and theatergoers, with the objective of giving new life to the theatre, the expected stage festival "Tower Theater Festival 2023" organized by Tower Hall Theater Foundation will be held from 09th to 24th January at Tower and Elphinstone Theatres.
In 15 days, 25 long plays, 12 short plays and 02 children's plays will be displayed in this drama festival, and more than 400 actors, singers, musicians and incidental artists gathered around 28 dramatists and 12 short dramatists. Benefit through the drama festival.
A press conference was held at Tower Hall Theater Foundation Head Office on 15.12.2022 under the leadership of the dramatists participating in this drama festival.

The opening of the Rukmanidevi gunanusmarana library and the program of enjoying Rukmanidevi songs was held at the Negombo-Rukmanidevi Memorial Performing Arts Centre.

This program was jointly organized by Tower Hall Theater Foundation and Rukmanidevi Memorial Society in recognition of her exemplary service to the art field in conjunction with the 44th commemoration of Rukmanidevi, who is known as the songstress and actress queen of our country.

The program was graced with songs and dances by artist Rukmanidevi, as well as celebratory speeches. On this occasion, Mr. Henry Priyashantha, the founder and advisor of Rukmini Devi Memorial Society, donated a set of books including valuable books containing information about her life for the library here.

Priests from Negombo region and surrounding areas as well as many artists, Additional Secretary (Development) of the Ministry of Buddhist Religious and Cultural Affairs, Director General of Towerhall Theater Foundation, Heads of Staff, Heads of Rukmanidevi Memorial Society and Rukmanidevi Memorial Craft Centre, school children and many others participated in this event. Minister Mr. Vidura Wickramanayake was also present on this occasion.

Tower Hall Theatre Foundation organizes a drama song concert titled "Tower Prabhaswara", a modern tradition of the Tower era, on 29th December 2022 at 6.30 pm at Elphinstone Theatre, Maradana.

Tower Hall Theatre Foundation's "Expectation Stage Festival Tower Theater Festival 2023" will be held from 09th to 24th January 2023 at Tower and Elphinstone Theatres ,Maradana, Colombo 10.

2007 in relation to one step in carrying out its objectives and functions of the Tower Hall Theater Foundation established by Act No. 1 of 1978.

As an extension of the two-year full-time Advanced Diploma in Drama and Performing Arts (Sinhala Media) jointly established with the Open University of Sri Lanka in the year 2022.05.04, the two-year full-time Advanced Diploma in Drama and Performing Arts (Tamil Media) was started at the Jaffna Sandilipayi Cultural Center. As an extension of that, the Memorandum of Understanding regarding the Tower Tamil Drama and Performing Arts School was made on 24.08.2022 at 10.00 am at the Office of the Vice-Chancellor of the Open University of Sri Lanka.

The theater school lectures related to this diploma course are delivered by: Northern Province Chief Secretary, Northern Province Education Secretary, Former Dean of Faculty of Arts and Graduate Education, Jaffna University, Regional Assistant Director of Jaffna University, Former Principal of Jaffna Palai Teachers College, Assistant of Northern Province Culture Department The Director, Director General of Tower Hall Theater Foundation and Assistant Director (Tamil Theater Promotion) of Tower Hall Theater Foundation, including academic members, by a group of university professors, professors, senior lecturers and academics.

For the academic year 2022/23, 50 students were recruited to study the Tamil Media Drama and Theater Advanced Diploma course, and the lectures and practical activities have already started. The duration of this course is two years. Graduates who successfully complete the Higher Diploma will be assigned to the Faculty of Education of the Open University of Sri Lanka for the third and fourth years of the Bachelor of Education in Drama and Theatre.

Tower School of Drama and Performing Arts' two-year full-time drama and performing arts higher diploma academic year 2021/2022 admission ceremony was held on 01.08.2022 at  Tower Theatre, Maradana.

Students who successfully complete the Higher Diploma in Drama and Performing Arts will be referred for the final 02 years (SLQF) - 5 and (SLQF) - 6 of the Drama and Performing Arts Degree Course in Education conducted by the Department of Secondary and Tertiary Education, Faculty of Education, Sri Lanka Open University.

The duration of the course is 02 years and this course covers Levels 03 and 04 of the Sri Lanka Qualification Framework (SLQF) and the Higher Diploma in Drama and Performing Arts is awarded in relation to the (SLQF) Level 04.

An eye clinic was held on June 10, 2022 at the Tower Hall Theater Foundation head office for the elderly artistes who receive monthly allowances from the Tower Hall Theater Foundation and artists engaged in each art field.

The Tower Hall Theater Foundation conducts Western and Native Medical Clinics every year with the aim of caring for aging artists, bequeathing them a dignified healthy life and appreciating the immense service rendered to the local arts.

This time, nearly 100 artisans were given free spectacles and eye care.

For this program held on 10th June 2022, Director General of Tower Hall Theater Foundation Dr. D.M.S. Dissanayake and the staff of the institution also attended the Buddha Sasana, Culture and Religious Affairs Minister Mr. Vidura Wickramanayake.

The eighth diploma ceremony of the two-year full-time drama and theater higher diploma course of the Tower School of Drama and Performing Arts was held in a grand manner on 15.09.2022 at Elphinstone Theatre, Maradana.

To five out of thirty-seven who received high diploma certificates. C.Don Bastian Jayaweera Bandara, lawyer John de Silva, lawyer Charles Dias and Professor Ediriweera Sarachchandra were also presented with medals.

The fourth diploma awarding ceremony of the two-year full-time drama and theater higher diploma course of the Tower School of Drama and Performing Arts, which was established in 1998 by the Tower Hall Theater Foundation, was held on June 16, 2022 at the Elphinstone Theater under the chairmanship of the Minister of Buddhist Education, Culture and Religious Affairs Vidura Wickramanayake.

Thirty-five of the one hundred and seventy who received high diploma certificates were awarded 'C. Don Bastian Jayaweera Bandara Scholarship', Advocate John De Silva Scholarship, Advocate Charles Dias Scholarship, Prof. Ediriweera Sarachchandra Scholarship, the student who obtained the highest marks in the academic year, the most talented student and the student of the year were also presented with medals.

The Tower School of Drama and Theater is the only public institution in Sri Lanka that awards an advanced diploma for drama and Theater.

To produce more than 300 diploma holders with knowledge, understanding and skills under an expert teaching staff full of theoretical and practical knowledge of drama and theater, and to guide them to the degree of Education in Drama and Theater in conjunction with the Open University of Sri Lanka, and then to the school system as drama and theater teachers. This has also given opportunities to donate.
